These images are primarily for our kids and their kids to enjoy, but can be enjoyed by any interested party!

Harriet and I spent 9 memorable days in Spain recently with Road Scholar. We visited Barcelona, Madrid and Toledo and saw some amazing sights, including Antonio Gaudi's masterpiece cathedral the Sagrada Familia. We also visited the Prado and Reina Sophia art museums and the cathedral in Toledo that featured the artwork of El Greco. I will be adding images to this site as I download and edit them, so come back often!

Since I live in Glens Falls most of the time and love to paddle one of my Hornbeck boats near my home, I find it very pleasant and convenient to put in at South Glens Falls Historical Park on River Street and paddle upstream past Haviland Cove toward the dam at Richardson Street. I have been doing this for several years and have taken many photos of the river, especially when the water level was lowered to work on the dam at the falls. I soon became aware of the buildup of trash in and along the river which spoils the atmosphere and ambience! Eventually I found myself in 2021 grabbing stuff and stowing it behind me as I paddled, putting it in a trash bag at home and disposing of it properly. I have made it a habit along that particular stretch of river. The variety and quantity of trash was at first staggering, but as of this summer I am happy to say that all the "vintage" trash is gone, and the riverbanks are much cleaner. Being a photographer, I couldn't resist photographing the wide variety of river trash that I stowed behind me as I paddled, and am now exhibiting the images of the back of my boat as a photoessay. I am hoping it will inspire other paddlers who are on rivers and streams that are subject to similar human disrespect to consider pitching in to keep our waterways clean!

Dan Moore was a legendary lumberman from Indian Lake New York who was kind enough to let me spend the day with he and his partner Ed Wells in January 2005. Sadly, dan passed away recently, but I want to share his images with the Moore family and all lovers of blue-blooded Adirondackers!

The 1944 Photo-essay in LOOK Magazine ran through seven issues, spanning April through November. As was recently described in Maury Thompson's feature article in the April 14, 2019 Sunday Glens Falls Post Star, thousands of photographs were taken by LOOK staff photographers and the accompanying text created an intimate, detailed and graphic portrait of a small American city during the climax of World War II. My wife and I took two of our grandchildren to tour the home and estate of the Father of our country, and they were fascinated! They were very impressed with the beautiful mansion- until they learned that the 250-year-old home had no running water or toilets!

The League of Extraordinary Adirondack gentlemen spent three days and two nights experiencing the unique pleasures of Norridgewock Lodge and its' environs in Beaver River from the 15th through the 17th of September 2022. The Bishop family, headed by Major Elijah Bishop (1764-1839) and his wife Tabitha, settled in the eastern Adirondacks just south of Elizabethtown and founded the village of New Russia after the Revolutionary War. Their graves, and those of the next to generations lie in the Boquet Cemetery at the southern end of town along what is now Route 9. The graveyard was vandalized in the spring of 2021 and the Bishop stones were pushed over and several were broken. Thanks to Margaret Barkley and the local American Legion post, the Bishop graves, and most of the others in the cemetery, are once again standing, straighter than before!

Play Hollow is Natalia Martinez' unique combination of store and classroom in Ballston Spa where unusual childrens' clothing, games and toys can be found. There is also a classroom for children where she teaches Spanish and also offers speech therapy to children in English and Spanish. Check out her website on Facebook

On September 10-11 five members of the League of Extraordinary Adirondack Gentlemen explored the maze of interconnected waters that surround the Fish Creek Ponds Area, west of Upper Saranac Lake. On the 10th, Tom Curley guided us from Long Pond into Pink and Little Pink Ponds before treating us to a sumptuous meal at his camp. Before retiring to our tents, I took a time exposure of Fish Creek Pond, capturing the Milky Way and Jupiter reflected on the water. On Saturday the 11th, we paddled the legendary Fish Creek Loop, embarking from the St. Regis Canoe Outfitter launch site on Floodwood Pond. From there we entered Fish Creek which led into Little Square Pond, then snuck through a narrow channel into Copperas Pond, paddling its length to the 0.65-mile portage to Whey Pond. At Whey’s far end we portaged a stone’s throw to the Rollins Pond boat launch, where we encountered a wedding photo shoot in progress. Paddling north for the full length of Rollins Pond, we squeezed through a boulder-lined stream that you could almost straddle in places before returning to Floodwood Pond and our starting point from the west. The 3-1/2-hour, 8.5-mile Saturday paddle was magical!

A wonderful time was had by LEAG Members Mike Prescott with wife Cookie, Rick Davidson with wife Kerry, myself and my wife Harriet, and Rick Rosen. We paddled from Rich Lake beach to the lake's outlet and carried into Belden Lake, travelling to the outlet into Harris Lake before turning around for a return for some beach time at beautful Rich lake beach. A good time was had by all!

Harriet and I took advantage of the unusually high water levels to paddle Brown's Tract upstream to the portage boardwalk to Eighth Lake. We were able to navigate across 3 beaver dams, although I had to get out once to pull us across. We had to fight a strong headwind from the west, and the sky was hazy from the west coast fires, but it was a beautiful paddle!

These are images taken from the 18-mile-long Warren County Bikeway and Feeder Canal Trail that runs from lake George Village to Fort Edward. Members of the Adirondack Mountain Club can look forward to reading about it in an upcoming issue of Adirondac Magazine in the fall.

Harriet and I went to Zion National Park in November of 2016 while we were in Las Vegas for a medical conference. It was breathtaking, as you can see!

On August 30, 2020 the League of Extraordinary Adirondack Gentlemen built a Hornbeck 10-foot Classic boat which will be donated to the Adirondack Center for Loon Conservation in Saranac Lake, to be raffled off sometime in the late Fall of 2021.

Mason Lake is a small lake in Hamilton County near the Jessup River. When seen from Route 30, it appears rather dull and not worth exploring by canoe or kayak. If one takes the time to turn off route 30 and drive along the lake's northern shore, one can appreciate it's subtle charm. And if you put in at the small put-in site just a couple hundred yards down the Perkins Clearing road and circumnavigate the entire lake, you will then appreciate its beautiful wetlands near the outlet, where a gigantic beaver dam that has probably been there for generations

These are portraits of many relatives of my father's family which I will be using to create a family tree at the www.geni.com website

Harriet and I have explored much of this very remote, winding, narrow and beautiful river. The unique feature of this river is maybe a half-mile downstream from the put-in; a gigantic white pine tree stump long ago uprooted by some ancient storm and flung downstream upside down! My illustrated story was published in the summer 2020 issue of Adirondack Life Magazine!

Harriet and I spent 2 nights at the legendary and beautifully restored Twitchell Lake Lodge in Herkimer County near Big Moose Lake in the western Adirondacks. We were the guests of Betsy Folwell and Tom Warrington, and other guests included Peter and Ann Hornbeck, Mark Warrington and his wife Kaoahu, Ellen DePrey, and Pete Gilbertson. While there we visited the site of Anne LaBastille's cabin, which now resides permanently at the Adirondack Experience museum in Blue Mountain Lake.

These are some pictures of our outing to Lake Lila in mid-September. The legendary winds of the lake were in full display both days, coming always from the direction into which we had to paddle. Nonetheless we had a great time, including a memorable climb up Mount Frederica.

Harriet and I took a 9-day trip to Banff, Lake Louise, Jasper, and many places in between in Alberta Canada. We encountered every kind of weather from mid-70's sunshine to low 30's blizzard conditions!

These are images from my 25-piece 2014 Tannery Pond gallery exhibit which I shared with Gerry Holzman, a wood carver/sculptor. I will be participating in another exhibit with photographer Tom Bessette and watercolorist and boat-building legend Peter Hornbeck in the Spring of 2020!

These are images from our 2018 outing to Middle Saranac Lake and Weller Pond. Hopefully some of them will appeared in fall 2019's issue of Adirondac.

These are all pictures that celebrate the color green. Some are from far away, in places like Hawaii and Costa Rica. Most are close to home in the Adirondacks.

This pond is easy to miss due to its obscurity along the road between Blue Mountain lake and Long Lake, but it’s worth the effort to haul your boat down the embankment between the parking area and the pond.

On June 26, Harriet and I took a leisurely paddle across Rich Lake into its inlet on a beautiful day. It was very scenic if not much of a challenge

We spent 9 days in Iceland in May 2018, battling rain squalls and sleet storms half the time, but along the way we saw spectacular landscapes and ate some of the best seafood we've ever tasted.

These are tropical fish I have photographed on trips to Hawaii in 2010 and 2015

These photos were taken during a trip to Hawaii in November 2015. We spent time on Oahu and Kauai.

We spent 36 hours an the Canadian side of the falls and had a great time viewing Horseshoe Falls from behind, above, below and in front of. I can highly recommend it!

These are the photographic highlights of our expedition to Forked Lake. Pete Hornbeck, Rick Davidson, Rich Rosen, Bill McKibben, Tom Curley and Tom Bessette were with me and we enjoyed a great time. See for yourself.

The LEAG members on this outing included Pete Hornbeck, Mike Prescott, Noel Davis, Dan Berggren, myself, and new members Bill McKibben and Rich Rosen. We paddled to the north end of the lake, camped out on the beach, and explored the Raquette and Cold Rivers in our Hornbeck boats. I was able to find the exact spot where Seneca Ray Stoddard photographed the lake looking south, and reproduced the same view with Mike as my "model".

In May 2014 Harriet and I went to France for a conference in Paris. Take a virtual tour of the city here!

Here is my new granddaughter, who is officially the World's Cutest Baby. As much as I was advised about the joys of being a grandparent, it was still an overwhelmingly surprisingly wonderful thing to hold my daughter's daughter in my arms for the first time. Now I can look forward to living my third childhood!

Please enjoy a virtual paddle up and back down the lower Bog River just above the falls that empties into Tupper Lake. Harriet and I enjoyed a perfect day on August 1, 2013.

My family enjoyed a week with our dear friends, Bob and Sandy Mangels at their beach house along the Brazilian coast over the Christmas holiday 2012. Wew were blown away by the sheer size of the Atlantic rain forest, which goes on for hundreds of miles.

Here is a visual tour of Rio de Janeiro, one of the most amazing cities we have ever seen. The contrast of the natural beauty of the mountains and Atlantic forest, contrasted with the dense throngs of humanity packed between the absurdly steep and dramatic granite peaks, makes this a photographer's paradise.

These are my favorite images of the late, great Patrick Sisti- a truly Extraordinary Adirondack Gentleman. Please see my blog entry to learn more about this amazing man.
